Moscow hosted RosPodros, a nationwide teen forum, and the second meeting of the Federal Children's Public Council under the Children's Ombudsman as part of the national project Education, supported by the Ministry of Education and the Moscow City Government.
Taking part in the forum were 162 participants from 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, the Zaporozhye Region. The delegates were heads of children's public councils, regional ombudspersons for children's rights, parents, and representatives of federal and regional authorities, socially-oriented public organisations, and experts.
The programme included meetings and discussions with experts, project activities, training sessions and workshops, team-building and cultural events. At the panel discussion The Art of Leading that opened the forum, Maria Lvova-Belova spoke about her personal team-building experience: an ambitious goal, participants that share your mission, and a trusting atmosphere.
For two days, invited experts shared their experience and knowledge with children. Among them were Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy Artyom Metelev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tinkoff Bank Stanislav Bliznyuk, Russian Railways Communications Director Yury Nagornykh and Deputy Vice President for Educational Projects at VK Anna Stepanova.
In addition, the young participants received training at the City of Moscow Situation Centre where they were shown the technologies used by the capital's government in making management decisions. They attended a series of workshops and developed their own child protection projects as part of learning activities, while eight final thematic projects were developed as a result of their teamwork.
The forum participants led by Maria Lvova-Belova contributed to the Children's Rights Commissioner’s humanitarian convoy as part of the Into the Hands of Children campaign to support children in Russia’s new regions. Two hundred boxes were added to a large humanitarian cargo, which included baby food, bedding and sanitary products, toys for children of different ages, clothes, home care products, as well as targeted assistance for families and medical institutions. In addition, negative pressure wound therapy devices and consumables were sent to the Republican Trauma Centre of the DNR Ministry of Healthcare. A family in the Zaporozhye Region will receive a stationary cycling machine and a wheelchair for their child who has cerebral palsy. In addition, a new car for the Republican Specialised Children's Home went to Donetsk as part of the convoy.
The RosPodros forum and the Federal Children's Public Council meeting ended with a presentation of projects, the best of which will be implemented.
