As part of the National Inspection for Social Orphanhood Prevention System, Maria Lvova-Belova visited the Republic of Mordovia. During her visit, she met with Head of the Republic Artem Zdunov and held a meeting with heads of executive agencies and an expanded meeting of the Commission for the Affairs of Minors and Protection of Their Rights in the republic.
For a week, the Children’s Commissioner’s team worked in the Republic of Mordovia, conducting audit of children's institutions, analysing the work of custody and guardianship agencies, commissions for the affairs of minors, and communicating with parents. The inspection placed 75 cases under close scrutiny.
During her working trip to the region, Maria Lvova-Belova met with Head of the Republic of Mordovia Artem Zdunov. She also held a meeting with the heads of agencies and institutions operating in the child neglect and juvenile delinquency prevention system, alongside members of the commission for the affairs of minors and protection of their rights. At these meetings, she outlined several measures aimed at facilitating the reunification of children with their families, including establishing a commission to evaluate the legitimacy of children's placement in institutions and enhancing control over preventive efforts for families at risk and in difficult life situations.
Furthermore, the Children's Commissioner visited the Centre for Youth Policy and Tourism of the Ruzayevsky municipality in the Republic of Mordovia, the republican social shelter for children and adolescents named Nadezhda, a family multi-functional public services centre (MFC), the Mother and Child crisis unit, and a foster parents' club where she held a personal reception of citizens and also contributed to the reunification of children with their families.
