Presidential Aide and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change Alexander Bedritsky took part in New York in the first meeting of the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability established by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Mr Bedritsky took part in discussing work on drafting a report that will be presented at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2010 (the Rio+20 Conference).

The Panel on Global Sustainability is co-chaired by President of Finland Tarja Halonen and President of South Africa Jacob Zuma, and brings together prominent politicians, private sector and civil society representatives from around the world. The Panel’s main tasks are to formulate the principles for global sustainable development in order to eradicate poverty while at the same time promoting a low-carbon green economy.
