Meeting of Presidential Anti-Corruption Council Presidium

July 25, 2012

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov chaired a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Countering Corruption.

Following a discussion of information supplied by the Russian Justice Ministry on the results of monitoring Russian Federation’s compliance with the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, the Council Presidium issued a directive to the concerned federal state agencies to draft a plan for the second phase of monitoring in the Russian Review Federation within framework of the OECD working group.

In accordance with the meeting agenda, Presidential Aide and Chief of the Presidential Control Directorate Konstantin Chuychenko reported on the anti-corruption efforts of the Russian regulatory authorities.

The Council Presidium decided to plan a series of measures aimed at increasing efficiency and improving the functions and powers of enforcement agencies, optimising their structure and size, as well as reducing corruption risks in the performance of duties by federal officials.

The meeting participants heard a report by Presidential Aide and Chief of the Presidential State-Legal Directorate Larisa Brychyova on the legislative measures taken by the Russian Federation in order to implement the Recommendation XXI by the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) to eradicate the practice of accepting gifts from the state administration system.

Following an exchange of views on the subject, the Council Presidium instructed the Russian delegation to inform GRECO of the measures taken by the Russian Federation to prevent the practice of accepting gifts in state and municipal agencies, as stipulated by the National Anti-Corruption Plan for 2012–2013.
