Meeting of Presidium of the Presidential Council for Countering Corruption

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov held a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Countering Corruption.

During the meeting, Labour and Social Protection Minister Maxim Topilin reported on measures to improve legislative protection for those who had reported instances of corruption from harassment and infringement on their rights and lawful interests. Russia’s Labour Ministry is instructed to prepare corresponding draft legislative acts based on the Council presidium’s discussion.

In their speeches, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chaika and State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Interior Igor Zubov explained the problems pertaining to returning items of cultural value that were taken out of the Russian Federation, including those that were received as a result of corruption-related violations of the law in Russia. The Council presidium resolved to set a corresponding working group with participation by the Culture Ministry of the Russian Federation and relevant federal government agencies.

Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov told meeting participants about the preparation of educational programmes to create an anti-corruption outlook among high school and college students, based on internatiional experience.

State Secretary and Deputy Economic Development Minister Oleg Fomichev reported on the results of a sociological study on the state of everyday corruption in Russia.
