Congratulations to Russian figure skaters who earned medals in pair skating at XXII Olympic Winter Games

Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian figure skaters Maxim Trankov and Tatyana Volosozhar, Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov on winning gold and silver medals in the pair skating competition, as well as their coaches and everyone who participated in training the athletes, on their outstanding, decisive and beautiful victories.

The President sent congratulatory messages to the figure skaters.

In his message to gold medallists Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, the President said:

“Millions of fans watched your performance with bated breath, eager to see the result, and you lived up to their highest hopes. You put your fullest effort into your performance and skated the free programme with brilliance and an emotional surge, and you deservedly took your place on the Olympic podium’s highest step. Your victory was much needed by our team and our entire country.” 

In his message to silver medallists Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov, Vladimir Putin said:

“You skated excellent short and free programmes and won over the fans with your masterful skill, artistry and charm, and you deserved your honourable silver medal at this XXII Winter Olympics.

It is good to see that the Russian figure skating school’s fine traditions continue and that talented young skaters are competing alongside experienced and famous masters.”
