Presidential Aide Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Development of General Aviation. The meeting was held in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The meeting took place at local aviation airfield Pervushino, 20 kilometres from Ufa, at the Open Sky 9th Convention of Aviation Amateurs, which has become an annual event for general aviation fans.
Taking part in the meeting were President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, Government, Federation Council and State Duma, Sports Ministry, Transport Ministry, Industry and Trade Ministry, Finance Ministry, Economic Development Ministry, Interstate Aviation Committee, DOSAAF [Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation, and Fleet], and representatives of air sports federations.
The meeting discussed development of air sports, getting young people involved in these types of sports, developing small-scale aviation-based tourism, and implementing the federal executive authorities’ action plan for developing general aviation.
The meeting drafted decisions for supporting air sports in Russia and removing administrative barriers in the way of developing tourism in the small-scale aviation sector.
The Commission’s next meeting in the third quarter of 2014 will examine development of general aviation in the regions, and the state of progress in implementing the federal executive authorities’ action plan for developing general aviation.
