Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino chaired a meeting of the Council for Countering Corruption Presidium.
First Deputy Justice Minister Oleg Plokhoi and Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Vinnichenko reported to the Council Presidium on the work underway as part of the Russian Federation’s participation in international anti-corruption organisations – the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and the Working Group of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Topics of discussion at the meeting included the Russian Federation’s work with GRECO and the OECD Working Group, as well as the direction of future joint work with these organisations.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoy and Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Vinnichenko presented information on corruption threats in environmental protection and ensuring environmental security based on the results of the Year of the Environment.
The Council Presidium stressed that the most significant corruption risks in environmental protection are related to oversight and licensing.
Following the meeting, federal executive bodies were issued specific instruction to enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts.
