The first meeting of the working group on preparing the joint session of the Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport and the Supervisory Council of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee on the results of the FIFA World Cup and implementation of the legacy concept took place under the chairmanship of Presidential Aide Igor Levitin.
Kaliningrad Region Governor Anton Alikhanov, who heads the working group, talked about preparing the report for the session and the main provisions of the draft concept of the World Cup legacy.
Deputy Minister of Sport Pavel Novikov spoke about the results of implementing the programme of preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Russian Federation.
The measures suggested by the working group are aimed at creating conditions for the effective and multi-purpose use of sports facilities built for the World Cup. They specify proposals for each region and concrete infrastructure facilities, including plans for their resourcing.
The final result should be the Government-approved legacy concept that will make it possible to fully integrate all facilities built for the World Cup into the social and sports framework.
The participants noted the importance of implementing the concept for the further development of both football and other sports in Russia.
