State Secretary and Deputy Defence Minister Nikolai Pankov chaired a meeting of the standing commission of the Council for Cossack Affairs on cooperation between the Defence Ministry and Cossack Military Societies.
Attending the meeting were members of the Council for Cossack Affairs, representatives of working groups of joint strategic commands of military districts, atamans (chiefs) of Cossack military societies of the Trans-Baikal, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Rostov Region and other Russian regions.
The meeting participants discussed ways to improve the mechanism of involving members of Cossack societies in military service, implementing military patriotic education programmes for the younger generation in line with the main spiritual and moral principles and values of Russia’s Cossacks, involving members of Cossack military societies in annual military assemblies and other events to strengthen the country’s defence capability and security.
These events will be discussed in great detail and included in a draft plan for implementing the strategy of the Russian Federation’s state policy strategy on Russia’s Cossacks for 2021–2023.
