Vladimir Putin congratulated Alexandra Goryachkina, Alexandra Kostenyuk, Yekaterina Lagno, Polina Shuvalova and Alina Kashlinskaya, all members of the Russian national team, on winning the FIDE World Women’s Team Championship 2021 in Sitges, Spain.
The Russian leader’s message reads, in part:
“You confidently sailed through the group stage and the playoff, depriving your rivals of any chances to beat the Russian team on the way to the finals. You vividly displayed your champion spirit during the decisive clash with the Indian chess players. Well done! And, of course, special and sincerest words of gratitude go to your coaches and mentors.”
