Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Volunteer Fire Service.
The Federal Law sets out legal grounds for establishing and operations of volunteer fire service, stipulates the rights of and guarantees for activities of volunteer fire brigades and fire security associations, regulates relationships between the volunteer fire service and the state power bodies, local authorities, organisations and individuals.
The law defines the volunteer fire service as socially valuable public associations set at the initiative of the individuals or legal entities who join their efforts for participating in prevention and extinguishing of fires and disaster relief activities.
Besides, the law describes the operation principles and organisation procedures for the volunteer fire service, its financial and logistical support.
In addition, the law details the specifics of social and financial assistance to the operations of the fire brigades and fire security volunteers, specifying their rights, duties and liabilities.
