Amendments to legislative acts pertaining to parliamentary powers and voting at elections and referendums

Dmitry Medvedev signed federal laws On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in Connection with Specifying Procedures for the Early Termination of a Deputy’s Powers and Replacing Vacant Deputy Seats and On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation on Elections and Referendums to Specify Requirements for Voting Outside Polling Stations and Other Issues of Voting Organisation.

The amendments concern procedures for the early termination of a deputy’s powers and replacement for vacant deputy seats, and specify requirements for voting outside polling stations and other issues pertaining to organisation of voting.

The first law makes corresponding amendments to the federal laws On the Status of a Member of the Federation Council and the Status of a Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, On General Principles Governing the Organisation of Legislative (Representative) and Executive State Authorities of Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation and On General Principles of the Organisation of Local Self-Government in the Russian Federation.

The second law makes corresponding amendments to the federal laws On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Rights of the Citizens of the Russian Federation to Participate in a Referendum, On Presidential Elections in the Russian Federation and On the Election of Deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
