The head of the Russian government expressed his sympathy for the Cuban people in connection with the damage caused by hurricane Gustav, and informed Raul Castro about Russian efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Cuba.
During the talks, the leaders of the two countries also discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for it in various fields.
