Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree approving the composition of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, Excellence in Sports, Preparation and Organisation of the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Paralympics in 2014 in Sochi and the composition of the Council's Presidium

The decree approved, in particular, that the Chairman of the Council will be President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and that the first deputy Chairman of the Council and Chairman of the Council’s Presidium will be Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
