Mr Medvedev noted that the situation is a reaction to difficulties at international level, the causes of which are beyond the control of Russia’s financial authorities. Nonetheless, the President considers that the problems on the Russian stock market are not long-term in nature and thinks the Government can correct the situation taking into account the proposals made during the meeting with the director of the Federal Service for Financial Markets.

Mr Medvedev also believes that Russian companies’ assets remain undervalued and that this creates potential for growth.
