Briefing on the plane crash near Tyumen

April 2, 2012

Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the efforts underway at the crash site. Mr Shoigu said that the Emergencies Ministry has sent a plane to the site in order to bring the injured to Moscow hospitals if need be.

Governor of Tyumen Region Vladimir Yakushev also briefed the President on the measures taken to aid the injured and the victims’ families.

The passenger plane, en route from Tyumen to Surgut, crashed during take-off from Tyumen airport. Initial reports put the death toll at 31, with 12 injured.

Mr Medvedev has changed his work schedule following the crash, and the meeting with the leaders of groups seeking to form future political parties, originally planned for today, will instead take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
