Vladimir Putin congratulated personnel and veterans of the Border Guard of Russia’s Federal Security Service on their professional holiday, Border Guards Day.
The President said, in particular, in his message:
“The Border Guard Service has kept watch on Russia’s borders for many decades now, protecting our country’s and society’s security in times of war and in peace, and acting professionally and effectively.
Today, the border guards’ sphere of responsibility has expanded considerably. Our border must be effective in blocking international terrorism, trans-border crime, drug trafficking, and illegal migration. Protecting our economic interests and cultural heritage also requires particular attention.
I am sure that today’s generation of border guards will build on their predecessors’ best traditions and be up to the measure of the tasks before them.”
