Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order On the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation.
The Council’s objective is to improve state policy in the field of interethnic relations. The Presidential executive order also approves the Council’s regulations and its composition.
Under the regulations, the Council is a Presidential consultative and advisory body, established to ensure cooperation between the federal state power bodies, bodies of state power in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local authorities, public associations, and academic and other organisations in addressing issues related to implementation of the state policy of the Russian Federation.
The Council’s main responsibilities are to review the conceptual framework, goals and targets of the state policy, to determine the methods, forms and stages of its implementation, to discuss the practical implementation of the state policy, to draft proposals for the President with regard to state policy priorities, to ensure cooperation between the federal and regional state bodies, local governments, NGOs, and academic and other organisations on issues of interethnic relations.
