Joint economic projects will help Russia and Spain withstand the problems created by the global financial crisis, Mr Medvedev said.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Zapatero discussed economic cooperation in general, examined a number of international issues, and looked at humanitarian ties, in particular Mr Zapatero’s idea of organising cooperation between universities.
The talks continued with the two countries’ delegations taking part.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Zapatero gave a joint press conference following the talks.
