The ratification of the Agreement will improve states’ effectiveness in the fight against cybercrime, including the illegal use of information resources and goods subject to intellectual property rights by various information channels.

The Agreement contains rules that differ from those in Russian law. Russia is ratifying the agreement with a reservation that provides for the full or partial rejection of a request if its outcome is likely to prejudice Russia’s sovereignty or security.
