Vladimir Putin met with Acting Governor of Novgorod Region Sergei Mitin and region’s residents who work in the municipal government, education, healthcare and agriculture sectors.
The meeting touched on the region’s socio-economic development as well as the restoration of historic monuments. Novgorod Region has a wealth of significant Russian historical and cultural sites, including 37 on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Sergei Mitin was appointed acting governor of Novgorod Region by a Presidential Executive Order after the expiration of his mandate as regional governor on August 7. Mr Mitin will serve as the acting governor until the elected governor takes office.
