Mr Fridman informed the President about the company’s plans to take part in telecommunications projects abroad, in particular in Iran and Afghanistan.

Mr Medvedev stressed that the Russian authorities have always supported private business in its work on foreign markets and will continue to do so.

The discussions also dealt with ways to overcome the financial crisis and examined the main tendencies in the process of consolidating financial institutions.
