Mr Medvedev and Mr Kouchner discussed prospects for Russian-French cooperation in connection with France taking over the presidency of the European Union on July 1, 2008. Mr Medvedev also asked Mr Kouchner to convey his thanks to President of France Nicholas Sarkozy for congratulating Mr Medvedev on his inauguration as President and inviting him to visit France.
Mr Kouchner gave Mr Medvedev a letter from Mr Sarkozy.
