Vladimir Putin visited the Severomorsk naval base of the Northern Fleet, where he presented the Order of Nakhimov to nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky.
The President also held a videoconference with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, who reported from Severodvinsk on the commissioning of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine Yury Dolgoruky into the Russian Navy.
Cruiser Pyotr Veliky was awarded the order for bravery, dedication and professionalism shown by the ship’s crew on their missions.
Yury Dolgoruky is a fourth-generation strategic missile carrier designed at the Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering Rubin and built by the Sevmash shipyard. Yury Dolgoruky became the 129th submarine commissioned into the Navy.
