Vladimir Putin held a meeting on tariff setting and improving the quality of housing and utilities services.
Taking part in the meeting were Presidential Aide Elvira Nabiullina, Director of the Federal Tariff Service Sergei Novikov, and Regional Development Minister Igor Slyunyayev.
The meeting discussed the results of an analysis the Government conducted in this sector following the meeting on improving the quality of housing and utilities services held on February 4, 2012.
The President asked the Government to speed up work on amendments to the legal framework regulating tariffs in the sector, saying everything possible must be done to improve the situation and prevent unjustified price increases, because the economic side of things cannot be taken in isolation from the social issues involved. Mr Putin said that housing and utilities sector tariffs should be economically justified and socially fair.
