Vladimir Putin took part in the official opening of a new multipurpose building at the Sambo-70 sports and education complex, held a meeting with coaches, athletes, sports veterans and experts on developing children’s physical education and children’s and youth sport.
Mr Putin visited the sports centre’s facilities and watched the students’ demonstration performances. The President also watched a training session for candidates for national teams that will take part in the World Martial Arts Games in October 2013 in St Petersburg.
The Sambo-70 centre of sports education is a Russian martial arts training school that was founded in 1970 and has produced world, European and Russian champions in sambo, boxing, sumo, judo, gymnastics, karate, dance sport, and other sports. The centre includes a sports school and two general educational schools.
Vladimir Putin also met with members of the International and Russian Sambo Federations to discuss promoting the sport abroad.
