In a telephone conversation Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Xi Jinping on being elected President of the People's Republic of China and wished him success in his work in such a demanding government post.
The two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the development of the strategic partnership between Russia and China and stressed their interest in further expanding ties in all areas and strengthening cooperation in the international arena.
Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping stated importance of maintaining personal contacts and noted in this regard the importance of the Chinese leader's upcoming state visit to Moscow.
