Trip to Siberian Federal District

April 11, 2013, Bada, Verkhnyaya Ivolga, Ulan-Ude

Vladimir Putin visited Ivolga Datsan in Buryatia and several timber companies in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Later the President chaired a meeting of the State Council Presidium on strengthening the timber sector.

Accompanied by the head of Russian Buddhists Pandito Khambo-lama Damba Ayusheyev, Vladimir Putin visited Dzogchen Dugan, the main temple of Ivolga Datsan (monastery), and talked with the lamas of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha in Russia.

Later, the head of state learned about the work of private logging and timber processing companies at the Badinskoye forestry in the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Businessmen told the President about the problems they encounter in their work, in particular high interest rates on loans, inflated tariffs for leasing forest land and the lack of road infrastructure.

After completing the agenda in the Trans-Baikal Territory, Vladimir Putin arrived in Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia, where he chaired a meeting of the State Council Presidium on strengthening the Russian timber sector.
