Russian-Uzbekistani talks

Vladimir Putin and Islam Karimov discussed bilateral cooperation issues and the current international political situation.

Mr Putin and Mr Karimov discussed strengthening economic ties, investment cooperation, cultural, humanitarian, science and technology contacts.

They also exchanged views on the main regional and international issues, in particular, the situation in Central Asia.

The talks then continued in expanded format.

The two presidents witnessed the signing of several intergovernmental documents: an economic cooperation programme for 2013–2017; a cooperation programme in culture and humanitarian fields, science and technology for 2013–2015; an agreement on incentives and mutual protection of investment; and an agreement on readmission.

Mr Putin and Mr Karimov made press statements following the talks.

A number of inter-agency agreements were signed as part of the preparations for the April 11–12 visit.
