Vladimir Putin took part in events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the tank battle at Prokhorovka.
The President laid flowers at the Zvonnitsa victory monument at the Prokhorovka Field military history museum and park at a ceremony together with 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War veterans. Mr Putin also visited the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victory in the battle at Prokhorovka.
Later, the President met with Great Patriotic War veterans who took part in the battle of Kursk.
Mr Putin also held a meeting of the Russian Pobeda (Victory) Organising Committee, in which deputy prime ministers, heads of federal ministries and agencies, regional governors, and veterans’ representatives took part, to discuss preparations for celebrating the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
