The federal law specifies the term “geographical location”, introduces a new concept of the “standardised naming of geographical locations”, and determines the jurisdiction of the law “On the Names of Geographical Locations”.
In connection with changes in Russian legislation that have occurred since the adoption of the law, the names of certain federal executive agencies will be changed. In addition, ambiguities surrounding some of the norms and identified practices associated with the law will be eliminated.
