August 13, 2013, Baku

Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev visited the Russian Navy Caspian Flotilla’s Dagestan missile ship, which is in Baku on a friendly visit.

At the port, the two heads of state heard reports from the Commander of the Russian Navy’s Caspian Flotilla and the Commander of Azerbaijani Navy, and later toured the Dagestan missile ship. The ship’s commander talked about the vessel’s combat features and armaments.

The Caspian Flotilla’s Dagestan missile ship was built by the Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipyard. This is the first vessel in the Russian Navy that is armed with the Kalibr-NK universal missile system.

Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev also visited a moored Azerbaijani ship.

The Presidents were given souvenirs to remember their visits to the ships. The commander of the Russian vessel presented the leaders with sailor hats and vests, as well as a photograph of the Dagestan’s first missile launch.

Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin also took a walk through Baku, which was followed by a dinner hosted by the President of Azerbaijan.
