Mr Trutnev reported on the work done so far to carry out the instructions given to the Ministry of Natural Resources at Russian Security Council meetings dealing with environmental issues. Mr Trutnev also informed the President about the Ministry’s proposals for resolving the issue of waste elimination and processing.

Mr Medvedev said that the authorities, the business community and civil society have a common duty to continue working together to improve the environment no matter what the circumstances at home and abroad. Even at a time when business faces shrinking possibilities, there can be no stopping, the President said. Work needs to continue on developing new environmentally-friendly production, improving waste treatment systems and reducing emissions.
