Vladimir Putin congratulated Narendra Modi on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in India’s general election.
In his message of congratulations, the President gave a high assessment of the traditionally friendly ties between Russia and India. These ties have a foundation in the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, which was signed while the BJP was in power and set a development course for bilateral relations for years to come.
Fruitful cooperation over recent years has produced impressive results that confirm the Declaration’s historical significance. Mr Putin noted that the two countries have carried out big, mutually advantageous projects in the economic, military technical cooperation, science, cultural and humanitarian sectors.
The President said he is confident that the two countries can work together to build on and multiply these achievements.
