They discussed amendments suggested by the government cabinet to the 2008 budget. The amendments are related to an increase in budgetary funding for a number of economic and social programmes. The Deputy Prime Minister assured the head of state that the forthcoming changes in the state budget would not adversely affect macroeconomic indicators or the rate of inflation.
Alexei Kudrin also briefed the President about the prospects for economic growth this year.
