Mr Medvedev submitted Mr Belykh’s name to the Kirov Region Legislative Assembly as candidate for the post of governor of the region.
Mr Belykh, 33, headed the opposition party Union of Right Forces (SPS) from May 5, 2005 until September this year. He resigned from his post as leader of SPS and left the party before it dissolved itself in November this year.
