Mr Avdeyev said that one of the ministry’s priorities is to provide Russia’s people with equal access to cultural heritage. One subject discussed in particular was that of developing on-line libraries. Other subjects discussed during the meeting included state support for theatres and material provisions for museum, library and archive staff.
Mr Avdeyev was appointed Minister of Culture on May 12, 2008.
