Dmitry Medvedev has introduced changes to several laws in connection with the ratification of the UN convention against corruption, the UN convention on criminal liability for corruption and the adoption of the Federal law “Against Corruption”

December 26, 2008

The alterations to the laws of the Russian Federation extend restrictions, duties and prohibitions as set down in the Federal laws “On counteracting corruption” and “On the Civil Service of the Russian Federation” on those who work in the prosecution service, the interior ministry, the Federal Security Service, the customs officials and the military.

Exceptions are made for any prohibition which impedes an employee from carrying out their official duties.

Also, the Federal law introduces relevant changes in the criminal, civil, administrative and penal system legislation of the Russian Federation.

The UN convention against corruption was passed on the 31st October 2003, and the convention on the criminal liability for corruption, on the 27th of January 1999.
