President Vladimir Putin met with Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller

December 20, 2001, The Kremlin, Moscow

Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that bilateral relations would dramatically improve after the appointment of Leszek Miller as Polish Prime Minister.

Leszek Miller said expanded good-neighbourly relations with Russia were a high-priority of the Polish foreign policy, and that he had chosen to visit Moscow immediately after being appointed Prime Minister.

The Russian President and the Polish Prime Minister agreed that both countries would jointly fight international terrorism and would coordinate their positions in this sphere. Both leaders also discussed the situation in Europe, opposed regional demarcation lines and advocated a common security and economic space in this and other fields.
