Mr Putin and Mr Jiang discussed the situation resulting from the United States’ decision to withdraw from the ABM Treaty. Their exchange of opinions confirmed that Russia and China held identical positions on the problem of maintaining strategic balance in the world and preserving international stability and security.

The sides underscored the importance of stepping up their joint efforts to prevent international destabilisation and of pursing a consistent course towards a reliable strategic stability system, based upon international legal mechanisms.
