The President pointed to the need to focus attention on the expenses of the natural monopolies. He said the monopolies should realise that the Government was closely following that aspect of their activities. All their investment plans and all their spending must be clear and understandable, Mr Putin said. In his view, that problem bore directly on a huge chunk of the state’s economic activity, influenced all economic participants and ultimately affected the social situation in the country.
