Earlier the director of the Federal Security Service Nikolai Patrushev reported to the head of state over the telephone on the investigation into the causes of the explosion that occurred the day before.
The President decided to call an early meeting with the heads of the regions in the Southern Federal District.
The meeting also discussed some aspects of domestic and foreign policy. One issue was the preparation of a meeting of the Interstate Council of the European Economic Community (EurAsEC) and a session of the Collective Security Council due to be held in Moscow on May 13 and 14.
Taking part in the meeting were: Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Alexander Voloshin, Secretary of the Security Council Vladimir Rushailo, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, Internal Affairs Minister Boris Gryzlov and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov.
