During his meeting with the Swedish Prime Minister, President Putin mentioned the positive changes Russia and Sweden had seen in their relations within the last year. He pointed to the growth of the trade turnover between the countries, which amounted to $1.5 billion. The Russian President said he was satisfied with the development of relations between the countries, and in particular in the investment sector. He stressed Swedish business was “working in the real production sector” in Russia. He cited an example of a joint venture producing busses in St Petersburg.
President Putin reminded of the recent visit by the King of Sweden to Russia, saying that His Majesty visiting the northern region of Russia pointed to the priority of relations between Russia’s north-west and Sweden.
