President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with French President Jacques Chirac

President Putin spoke about the results of his talks on Indian-Pakistani relations with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which were held in Almaty. The heads of state agreed to continue coordinating their efforts in reducing tension in South Asia and stabilising the relations between India and Pakistan.

Mr Putin and Mr Chirac discussed their further cooperation in the near future. The Russian President expressed his confidence that as soon as the parliamentary election in France was finished, the joint efforts in developing Russian-French bilateral and international cooperation will receive a new impetus.
