President Vladimir Putin met with US President George Bush

During the G8 summit, President Vladimir Putin met with US President George Bush. The Presidents focused on the fight against terror and disarmament issues, and discussed the situation in the Middle East and the anti-terror operation there, as well as ways to expand cooperation in this sphere. Mr Bush brought up the situation in the Pankisi Gorge (located in Georgia). Mr Putin confirmed Russia’s readiness to practically assist the Georgian partners to eliminate the terrorist threat in the region.

The Presidents also discussed bilateral cooperation between Russia and the United States.
