The President expressed his dissatisfaction with the inefficient use of the region’s economic potential. Production facilities are renovated very slowly and very few jobs are created. As regards the wear and tear of fixed assets and the number of the unemployed, the Volga Federal District ranks first among the other federal districts.

At the same time, the President noted that the district’s enterprises had real prospects to become economically successful and competitive because the Volga area is extremely attractive to investors. However, their potential is not properly used, the President said at the conference.
