Mr Putin, Mr Gryzlov and Mr Vorobyov discussed the situation in southern Russia. President Putin said efforts by the Emergency Situations Ministry and regional authorities were not enough for coping with the effects of a calamity in the Krasnodar Region.
President Putin ordered different agencies to coordinate their efforts in this sphere and stressed the need for curbing epidemics and fighting looters.
Mr Vorobyov told President Putin that the flood in Novorossiisk had claimed 38 lives, 32 people had been rescued and over 100 houses destroyed. He said rescue operations involved 486 people from Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Sochi and Moscow.
