The letter said in part that the “country and its people are marking the 57th anniversary of Korea’s liberation with economic achievements and joint national efforts in the interests of peaceful reunification of the country and the nation.”

“Supporting these efforts and highly appreciating your personal contribution to the settlement of the Korean problem, Russia is building its relations with the Republic of South Korea on the principles of good-neighbourliness and constructive complementary partnership, proceeding from our common task of strengthening peace in Asia.”
