President Vladimir Putin met with Kim Jong-Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of North Korea, during his tour of the Russian Far East

During their negotiations, the two countries’ leaders discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Russia and North Korea, in particular, plans to link the Trans-Korean and the Trans-Siberian railways.

The Russian President told the North Korean leader about Russia’s position on key international issues.

Mr Putin confirmed Russia’s readiness to contribute to inter-Korean settlement.

After their talks, which lasted for one and a half hours, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-Il continued their conversation at dinner.

After that, Mr Putin told journalists about the results of his talks with Mr Kim Jong-Il as agreed upon with the North Korean leader.
